Delhi Police have busted a major online shopping fraud ring, arresting two accused individuals in connection with a scam involving 50 iPhone 16 units. The investigation revealed that the devices were marked as delivered on the application but were never physically handed over to the buyer. The total financial loss estimated in the case stands at approximately Rs 35 lakh.
The complaint was filed by Sumit Agarwal, a resident of Shastri Nagar, who alleged he placed orders between April 12 and April 16 via Amazon. Despite tracking updates showing successful delivery, Mr. Agarwal did not receive a single phone. Acting on this discrepancy, a joint team from the Sangam Park police post and Bharat Nagar police station initiated an inquiry.
During the probe, officials gathered information from the online shopping company’s office on GT Karnal Road. Records indicated that most parcels were assigned to a single delivery agent named Jaspreet Singh. Upon detention, Singh confessed to carrying out the fraud alongside his associate, Himanshu, both residents of the Kishanganj area.
Police have successfully recovered 14 sealed iPhone 16 units worth approximately ₹10 lakh so far. The accused admitted to committing the crime in a bid to make quick money. Efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining devices and determine if they were involved in similar criminal activities.
