Anyone else here use TVPaint? It's kinda old school but really solid for frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation. The controls feel natural and there's plenty of support for traditional workflows.
Have any of y’all used OpenToonz? Heard it's free and used by some studios. Wondering if it’s good for frame-by-frame or more for digital cutout style.
For those interested in AI helping with animation, you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools. They list quite a few niche apps for animation and design that are constantly updated.
I've tried a few AI apps that assist with frame-by-frame animation, and honestly, some really save tons of time. But you gotta be careful cause they can sometimes make things look too artificial. What I like is when the AI just helps clean up sketches or inbetween frames.
I feel like no AI tool can fully replicate the nuance of hand-drawn. Sometimes the best option is just to get a good tablet and practice more. But AI can help with cleanup and coloring for sure.
