I read that OpenAI has other models like Whisper which are designed for audio transcription. ChatGPT focuses on text generation and understanding.
So basically, if you want ChatGPT to respond to audio, you need a middle step that transcribes the audio into text first.
Currently, ChatGPT cannot hear or process audio directly. It only processes text input. To use audio, you would need to convert it to text using speech-to-text software first.
Is there a way to enable audio input in official ChatGPT interfaces?
I hope in the future OpenAI integrates audio input directly; it would be great for accessibility and more natural interaction.
Some platforms or apps use ChatGPT in combination with speech-to-text engines to allow users to talk to it, but ChatGPT itself doesn't handle audio processing natively.
I've tried some apps that combine speech-to-text and ChatGPT and it works pretty well for casual conversations.
