BaseBuddy
Why Choose BaseBuddy?
Best bet for devs already deep into the Supabase ecosystem who want to skip building an admin panel from zero. It hooks straight into your existing Postgres DB, letting u edit content without spinning up a whole new infrastructure layer. The main flex is self-hosting freedom—no vendor lock-in or surprise costs as your content grows, plus you keep full control over where the data lives. Where it really stands out is how it plays nice w/ your current schema instead of forcing you to migrate everythin to their proprietary structure. You get a usable editor interface but still leverage Supabase's auth and realtime features underneath. Just keep in mind though, if you or your team ain't comfy deploying Docker containers or managing servers, this prob isn't the smoothest ride compared to click-and-go solutions. Honestly, grab this if you've got the tech bandwidth to run it yourself. Otherwise stick to managed options unless you really need that open source edge.
BaseBuddy is an open-source Supabase CMS and self-hosted editor for existing Supabase and Postgres databases.
BaseBuddy Introduction
What is BaseBuddy?
BaseBuddy is an open-source CMS tool designed for developers working with Supabase and Postgres databases. It lets you self-host an editor so u can manage your data without writing raw sql commands every time. Its primarily for folks who hate vendor lockin and want a simple, free admin panel that sits on top of their existing setup. Honestly if your looking for something lightweight and open then its probably the move.
How to use BaseBuddy?
To get started u need to pull the reppos and run the container via docker. Its way easier than building from scratch. Just configure the .env file with your supabase project id and anon key then launch the service. Hit the locahost address listed in the console to access the UI. Inside the app you get a clean view of all ur tables instantly. No need to write queries for basic edits since its made for visual management. Update fields, remove rows or change schema structures right from the grid. Data updates reflect live in the actual database too. Best bet is to edit a dummy record first to confirm the connection holds. Sometimes permissions block writes if the key is restricted so watch for that error. Once working it saves tons of time compared to manual sql cli work.
