SOA Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar hosted the inaugural IEEE International Conference on Emerging Trends in Advancements and Applications of Computational Intelligence Techniques (ETAACT 2026) on April 10 and 11. Organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), the two-day event operated in hybrid mode to accommodate global attendance.
The conference covered diverse technical tracks including Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences, Neural Networks, Security Tools and Blockchain, and Federated Learning. Approximately 2000 research papers were submitted from nations such as the United Kingdom, USA, Thailand, UAE, Malaysia, Germany, New Zealand, and Jordan. Distinguished speakers included Prof. Amitava Mukherjee from BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus, Prof. Somnath Tripathy from IIT Patna, Prof. Sung-Bae Cho from Yonsei University, South Korea, and Prof. Bibhudatta Sahoo from NIT Rourkela.
Inaugural sessions were graced by Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, alongside Prof. Pradeep Kumar Sahoo, Dean of ITER, and Prof. Debahuti Mishra, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering department. The proceedings were led by Program Chair Dr. Rasmita Dash, supported by technical and organizing chairs from the faculty. Sponsored technically by the IEEE Bhubaneswar Section and the IEEE Consumer Technology Society Chapter, the event aims to position Bhubaneswar as a growing hub of academic excellence and technological innovation.
