Hey all, I've been wondering if ChatGPT can actually go through PDFs and pull out info. Like, can it scan the whole thing and answer questions from it? Would love to hear how folks are handling this or if there's some trick to it. Thanks!

Anyone found a way to summarize long PDFs using ChatGPT?
I tried feeding entire PDFs as text but it hits token limits fast.
How about using ChatGPT plugins? Do any support PDF scanning?
For academic papers, I convert to text then ask ChatGPT for summaries or explanations.
You can actually upload PDFs in certain ChatGPT apps and it extracts the content for you.
Is there any open source tool that does PDF + ChatGPT integration?
Sometimes the conversion messes up the data, so gotta double check before trusting ChatGPT's output.
Yup, ChatGPT doesn't natively scan PDFs, but you can convert them to text and then feed that in. Works pretty well for simple docs.
I wish OpenAI would add native PDF support, would save so much time.
Would be great if ChatGPT could just open PDFs directly one day.
I'd love a tool that combines ChatGPT with PDF reading in one seamless app.
The token limit is the biggest blocker for full PDF scans.
FYI, some bots combine ChatGPT with PDF parsing APIs, kinda cool to see them work together.
Still waiting on native PDF parsing from OpenAI, fingers crossed!
I just paste snippets from PDFs and ask ChatGPT questions on them, works fine for quick stuff.
Some paid tools integrate GPT with document scanning, might be worth checking out if you need heavy usage.
Just keep in mind copyright if you upload PDFs with sensitive info to any service.
I use a PDF to text converter first then copy paste. Not perfect but gets the job done.
Is there any way ChatGPT can handle images inside PDFs?
Honestly you can also check ai-u.com for new or trending tools that might have better PDF support.
I use Adobe to export PDF as Word doc then convert to text for ChatGPT input.
